The O2 oxygen generator is the perfect addition to any tanning salon. These small oxygen generators are 100% FDA compliant and 50 state legal. They connect remotely to the same timing system your commercial tanning beds run off of. Typically salons charge anywhere from $1-$3 for oxygen thereapy while tanning. This adds up quickly and the generators pay for themseleves in no time at all. Oxygen tanning is the newest trend in the tanning market. By adding oxygen therapy to your tanning salon it not only helps your customers tan deeper but it also lowers the risk of being burned.

How Does Oxygen Tanning Work?

Ultraviolet light is comprised of two main energy components, UVA and UVB, both of which are essential to the tanning process. ProSun tanning beds utilizes a special mixture of these two light waves, designed to maximize tanning and minimize the of risk sunburn. This is why indoor tanning is safer. Tanning outdoors does not give you this same control because the sun emits the entire spectrum of ultraviolet light, including the most intense rays (UVB) that burn you more quickly.
Your skin’s epidermis consists of two layers: the germinative layer (sometimes called the “living” epidermis) and the horny layer (the “dead” epidermis). When your skin is exposed to ultraviolet light rays, melanocytes in the skin produce melanin which is then absorbed by the surrounding cells giving your skin a “tan”. The tan is a protective barrier to screen additional ultraviolet light so that this light cannot reach the deeper and more sensitive layers of the skin. This tanning process is the body’s natural defense against sunburn and skin damage.
UVA is a longer ray that penetrates more deeply and slowly than UVB. The melanin in your skin absorbs the UVA rays, turning the pigment brown. UVB rays are short, intense waves of energy, stimulating the melanocytes in your skin to produce the pigment we call melanin.
Everyone has the same number of melanocytes in their body-about five million. Your genes however dictate how much melanin your body can produce. For example, the skin of African-Americans contains enough melanin to create a black or brown skin color, while the skin of Caucasians has less melanin and is therefore more pale.
As the melanin migrates to the surface of the skin to protect the body from burning, it combines with oxygen and turns the darker color we call a “tan”. Skin with lower oxygen levels will burn rather than tan. This is why adding oxygen to your tanning regiment has such drastic effects, the more oxygen thats in the body and is available to the skin to help produce melanin, the darker the tan, the longer it will last, and the less likely the skin will burn.

- Tanning Beds
-Its best to refer to the lamp manufacturers specifications for tanning and facial lamps when determining when to change the bulbs.
- It is important not to touch the facial lamps with your bare hands when replacing them. It is best to use a soft cloth. In the occurrence that you get finger prints on the facial lamps use a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol to remove any smudges.
- Do not clean the acrylic surface with alcohol, bleach or ammonia. We recommend using Lucasol or Solacryl solutions for cleaning the acrylic.
-Do not use outdoor tanning lotions or oil based lotions on tanning beds because it will ruin the acrylic.
-To ensure proper ventilation of your bed please make sure that there is at least six inches of space between the bed and parameter walls.
